I didn't have a single cavity until I was 27 years old. Then I had seven. At least that's what the dentist wielding a water pick inches from my cowering mouth told me. To add insult to dental injury, she said that in addition to my decaying teeth, my gums were also receding and if I didn't have a gum graft pronto all of my (flawed) teeth were going to fall out. But, surprise-surprise, her husband was a periodontist and he could save my gums from extinction.

Few of us can make it through the day without a morning cup of coffee (or in my case, an afternoon Coca-Cola). Caffeine may do a whole lot for my energy level but it doesn't do much for my pearly white teeth. So how do you stay awake and keep a whiter smile?
